Ha Chong-Hyun at Almine Rech Gallery, London

Powerful and beautiful work by Ha Chong-Hyun at Almine Rech Gallery, London.

A leading member of the movement known as Dansaekhwa (monochrome painting), Ha Chong-Hyun first came to prominence with his Conjunction series in the early 1970's. From this he developed his signature style; pushing the paint from the back of the hemp cloth through to the front.

The exhibition includes work from 1972-2016. I longed to take Work 72-007, 1972 and Conjunction 16-42 (A+B+C), 2016 home with me. A rare thing to feel like this. Suffice to say, I will be returning.
