Royal Academy Summer Exhibition


88 Days, the 88 blind embossed etchings made during Alex Calinescu's residency at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, has been selected from more than 11,000 submissions for inclusion in the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition 2010. The etchings are exhibited in Gallery XI at the Royal Academy, alongside work by Anselm Kiefer, Antoni Tàpies, and Paul Huxley, from 14 June to 22 August 2010.

88 Days consists of a boxed set of 88 blind embossed etchings, one made at the end of each working day whilst Alex Calinescu was artist in residence at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Connecticut USA, 4th April to 30th June 2006. Editioned by the artist and the Master Printmaker Kip Gresham at the Print Studio, Cambridge, the project was finally completed in June 2009. A photographic diary documenting the making of 88 Days can be seen on this website. 88 Days is published by The Artist in an edition of 15 sets
with 3 artist’s proof sets, 2 archive copies and 1 printer’s proof. Plate size 18 x 14.5cm, paper size 33.5 x 29cm. Printed on white Moulin du Gu, waterleaf, 270gsm by the artist and Kip Gresham at The Print Studio, Cambridge.
